Confidential Communication Under the IDVA

Target Audience: Domestic violence, healthcare providers, social service
advocates and other service providers who work closely with survivors.
Course Description: The Illinois Domestic Violence Act provides the strongest confidentiality
protection for domestic violence victims in the country. The Act imposes requirements and responsibilities for domestic violence
programs and counselor/advocates as well as imposing consequences for workers who fail to comply. This training will provide
participants with a comprehensive understanding of the confidentiality provision of the Act, how it affects clients, programs
and service providers. In addition the training will offer valuable information of other confidentiality statutes that apply
when domestic violence victims receive services from outside of a domestic violence program.
