40-Hour Domestic Violence Training


February  3, 5, 10, 12, 17 & 19 (Tuesdays
& Thursdays)

8:30am - 4:30pm

Registration begins at 8:00am, Training starts promptly at 8:30am


Under Illinois state law (the Illinois Domestic Violence Act - IDVA) - staff and volunteers of domestic violence programs are required to complete a 40-Hour training to maintain confidentiality for their work with survivors of domestic violence.


The Domestic Violence 40-Hour Training is the basic training for new domestic violence workers. The training comes from the grassroots domestic violence movement's perspective, providing participants with the movement's philosophical and political framework. Interactive educational models and skill-building activities are used to convey ideas.

arget Audience: New and experienced domestic violence and sexual assault counselors.


Course Description: This is an enriching two-day program for new and experienced domestic violence and sexual assault counselors designed to offer a concise introduction to survivor-centered philosophy and practice as develop by Carl Rogers and other theorists. This training will offer participants an opportunity to explore empowerment counseling philosophies and techniques, practice new skills and consult with professionals. It will also give participants the chance to improve listening and communication skills for personal and professional growth.

Credits Offered: 12 contact hours, 12 CEUs for LCSWs, LCPCs and ICDVPs
