Course Description: Domestic Violence programs understand
their need to move beyond responding to and supporting survivors healing to a sustainable strategy that prevents domestic
violence from occuring altogether. However, developing community education models that systematically work toward the
transformation of the social norms and behaviors that perpetuate violence against women and girls-appears to be a challenge.
At this training participants will learn from the experiences of an awesome group of community educators, community organizers,
activists, advocates and academics. Come and learn the ABC's of educational principles and methodologies which have
been successfully implemented by Chicago programs! Learn how to engage youth and other community members in your projects,
gain an essential understanding of the concept of community accountability, and attain the tools to foster community continued
participation. .
Credits Offered: 6
contact hours, 6 CEUs for LSWs, LCSWs, LCPCs and ICDVPs .

Course Description: This training will provide domestic
violence, sexual assault and other social service workers, as well as outreach and education providers with the tools needed
to promote an end to violence against women. Best practices on educating boys and men about violence and engaging their
help in the struggle for peace and injustice will be presented. A long due discussion about how to build multidisciplinary
coalitions to address gender-based violence will be held. Credits offered: 6 contact hours, 6 CEUs for LSWs,

40- Hour Domestic Violence
Training June 17, 18, 19, 24, 25 & 26 8:30am - 4:30 pm
Registration is at 8:00 am, Training starts
promptly at 8:30am Under Illinois state law (the Illinois Domestic Violence Act - IDVA)
- staff and volunteers of domestic violence programs are required to complete a 40-Hour training to maintain confidentiality
for their work with survivors of domestic violence. The Domestic Violence 40-Hour Training is the basic training for new domestic violence workers. The training comes from
the grassroots domestic violence movement's perspective, providing participants with the movement's philosophical
and political framework. Interactive educational models and skill-building activities are used to convey ideas.
